Honoring Excellence: SBX's Award-Winning Partnership with Riverside University Health Systems - Public Health"

In a world where collaboration is key to driving positive change, partnerships between organizations are the lifeblood of progress. Today, we celebrate a remarkable achievement—a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and dedication to community health and well-being.

Sigma Beta Xi Inc. Youth and Family Services (SBX) is thrilled to announce that we have been honored with the prestigious Community Partnership Award at the 2024 AMCHP Annual Awards. This esteemed accolade shines a spotlight on our transformative partnership with Riverside University Health Systems - Public Health and underscores our collective commitment to breaking barriers, empowering families, and fostering healthier communities.

At the heart of this award-winning collaboration lies the Fatherhood Program—a groundbreaking initiative aimed at addressing the critical need to support and empower black fathers in Riverside County. The program, developed in partnership with Riverside University Health Systems - Public Health, provides a safe space for black men to engage in discussions, share experiences, and gain valuable knowledge on the impact of their presence, support, and voice in the family dynamic.

Why Black Fatherhood? The statistics are sobering—black babies face double the risk of dying before their first birthday, and California has the highest infant mortality rate for black infants. By focusing on improving birth outcomes and reducing black infant mortality, the Fatherhood Program seeks to make a tangible difference in the lives of families across Riverside County.

Qualifying participants have the opportunity to join this free six-week course, where they'll engage with evidence-based curriculum designed to empower fathers and strengthen their bonds with their children. Through weekly virtual meetings conducted via Zoom, participants learn essential parenting skills, connect with other fathers, and explore the rich legacy of black fatherhood.

The impact of this partnership extends far beyond the award itself. It's about creating a supportive community where fathers can thrive and make a difference in the lives of their children. By coming together, sharing knowledge, and uplifting one another, participants have the opportunity to break the cycle of generational disparities and build a brighter future for our communities.

As we celebrate this momentous achievement, we extend our deepest gratitude to Riverside University Health Systems - Public Health for their unwavering support and collaboration. Together, we're proving that by working hand in hand, we can create meaningful change and pave the way for healthier, more vibrant communities.

To all those who have contributed to this partnership, whether through participation in the Fatherhood Program or through your support and advocacy, we thank you. Your dedication and commitment inspire us to continue pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and striving for excellence in everything we do.

Together, let's celebrate the power of partnership and reaffirm our commitment to building a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive. With Riverside University Health Systems - Public Health by our side, the possibilities are limitless.
