Justice

Restorative

Three Parties:

01

Victim

or the individual harmed.

02

Offender

or the individual that caused the harm.

03

Community

the place where the offender caused the harm.

Restorative Justice is an umbrella term that encompasses Community Building and Response to Harm principles and practices that enrich communities, repair harm, restore relationships and create safe and inclusive spaces for dialogue.

This program will be based on the concept of building a community that strengthens its members and holds each other accountable. There are fundamental questions that must be answered through Restorative Justice as opposed to Retributive Justice.

The primary format for building community and addressing harm will be in the form of Restorative Justice Circles.  Community Circles originates from indigenous traditions that include peacemaking circles in many Native American tribes/First Nations communities, African traditions, and Maori cultural philosophy and practice.
